Underground Reels

Tunnels are their realm: AVTM spiral hose reels feed the Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM) with water, air, slurries and technical fluids and remove wastewater and mud.

Tunnel Boring Machines bore the tunnels for metro, railways, highways, aqueducts, wastewater and main mines galleries. They are built specially for one project and their main components are reused for future projects. The TBMs require water and slurries to lubricate and seal the drilling head, breathable air for the control room and compressed air for actuators. Wastewater and muds must be removed to treatment plants on the surface.

Each TBM is engineered to the precise diameter of the tunnel to bore and in turn, AVTM reels size is adapted to each TBM.

Specification

Spools made from steel profiles up to 3 m diameter with semi-wide and 2-monospiral designs adjusted to the TBM
European gearboxes with electric, hydraulic or pneumatic motors and control panel to carefully manage the hose
Rotary joints up to 50 bars made of special steel with nickel plating and gaskets specific to the handled fluid
Reeling hoses up to 300 mm diameter, equipped with suitable fittings and installed on the spool
From the existing designs, we develop customized solutions as required by our customers.
